Hola! USS Students Return from Spain & Morocco!

IMG_7032_SmallThis past March break twenty-two lucky USS students participated in a travel experience of a life time: they had the opportunity to go to Spain and Morocco with the Canadian and World Studies Department.  The trip began on Thursday, March 10th, and after a transfer in Montreal and Munich, the group landed in Madrid, Spain, on Friday.  While in Madrid, after our buffet breakfast, the group toured the city and saw the Royal Palace and the Palace des Torros (even the Soccer stadium home of Real Madrid!).  Additionally, the group saw Picasso’s Guernica at the Reina Sofia gallery and the works of many other European masters at the Prado.  Further, we also visited Toledo taking many pictures and walking across the Roman bridge into the city. The adventure continued on across the plains of La Mancha to Fuengirola on the Costa del Sol.  A morning tour of Mijas, and the wealthy and  exclusive Porto Benus, turned into playing on the beach in front of our hotel and visiting the tourist shops also located there.   Our  travel odyssey went on to exotic Ceuta,  Morocco, the next morning.  Having shopped and saw the sights, we returned to Europe to see Gibraltar and later Seville.  Here we admired both Europe’s third largest cathedral, and the many, many orange trees there; we continued on next to Grenada and Cordoba: experiencing a fantastic time, and seeing both the converted mosque/royal cathedral and the hill top fortress of Alhambra. Finally, on the last day, our journey ended back in Madrid for our buffet farewell dinner and our return to Uxbridge. Muchas Gracias Mr. Walker, Ms. Thompson, Ms. Smale and Mrs. White. Stay tuned for further details concerning next year’s awesome March break European travel experience.
